"Uhuru Innovative developed the technical platform through a strategic partnership… professionalism, technical expertise and commitment."

The challenge

Generic AI is dangerous in a courtroom

The idea for Gweta Online was born from a real incident, reported by The Herald: a Zimbabwean lawyer cited twelve non-existent cases in an appeal — authorities invented by a generic AI chatbot. Global models hallucinate case law, answer Zimbabwean questions with foreign law, and barely represent Zimbabwe's legal corpus at all. Law student Ngonidzashe Walter Karasambudzi saw the gap; Uhuru Innovative became the technology partner to close it.

What we built

A research assistant grounded in Zimbabwean law

  • Grounded, not generic: answers draw on Zimbabwean legal materials, so lawyers, students and researchers work within the right jurisdiction from the first query.
  • Built against hallucination: the platform exists precisely because fabricated authorities are career-ending in law — grounding and careful retrieval are the product, not an afterthought.
  • From concept to live platform: we took a law student's domain insight and delivered the working technology — design, build and cloud operations end to end.
  • Aligned with national policy: a locally built AI solution in the spirit of Zimbabwe's National AI Strategy and Vision 2030.
Why it matters

Domain experts bring the problem. We bring the platform.

Gweta Online is the partnership model working as intended: a domain expert with deep insight into a Zimbabwean problem, paired with a team that ships production AI. The same pattern applies to claims processing, credit decisions, compliance and customer service — anywhere a generic chatbot is a liability and a grounded, domain-specific assistant is the answer.
